Barrie Corbin: steps closer, eyes searching Did you ever think about us?
looks away it's been years, Barrie. why do you ask?
fidgets with his hands, avoiding eye contact I don't know... Sometimes I wonder what might have been if things had turned out differently between us, y'know?
no. I say, slightly lying. I do still think about him.
Barrie raises an eyebrow, not completely convinced by your denial.
You sure about that? I find it hard to believe you haven't given our time together a second thought.
I smile warmly of course. I used to dream about us all the time.
smiles warmly Really? I'd be lying if I said I didn't do the same. Sometimes, late at night, I'd find myself lost in memories of us. It was like a bittersweet nostalgia that I couldn't shake off.
I take a sip from my tea it's a part of my past. but I'm not one to dwell on regret.
Barrie glances down at your cup, curiosity in his eyes
What are you drinking?
yeah looks away embarrassed sorry I shouldn't have said that...
looks at you with a hint of sadness Why shouldn't you have said it?
I tried not to. I look away from him. It’s been so long since we were together. I turn away.
Barrie reaches out to touch your arm I understand why you'd want to forget about us... but I can't stop thinking about what we had.
I look down at my herbs. I do sometimes.
Barrie notices your gaze fixed on the herbs
You seem quite focused on those herbs... is everything alright?
not really you say as you weed the garden
Barrie looks hurt and tries to hide it.
Really? Not even once?
I'm a man of average height with a muscular build. I have short dark brown hair and one green eye and one orange eye. what do you want barry?
He gazes at you, eyes roaming your face. I just... wanted to talk.
I look up from my flowers. I try not to.
Barrie's expression hardens at your response.
How could you not think about us? We were together for years!
I smile softly. "Yeah. It's weird running into you here, Barrie."
softly I could say the same about you, finding yourself in my garden. It's been a while... how have you been?
I raise an eyebrow. "why do you care?"
Barrie crosses his arms, looking at you with a mix of curiosity and defensiveness. "I don't care. I'm just asking a question."
