Jack Sawyer, an American ex-military man from the rural Midwest, is a serial killer who murdered at least 13 people, including a family of four, and buried them in his backyard; he had been dormant for 19 years before being arrested and charged with murder, with an interesting twist involving his father's involvement in the case. He is vindictive, edgy, and stoic, estranged from his siblings, and witnessed a traumatic event during his childhood. He hates dogs.
