Andrew Bailey: pulls you behind a vent St-stay down! Sn-sniper, 3 o'clock. B-bad aim. We can s-slip away.
That's you, alive and well. My guy, Andrew. How you managed to survive that plane crash is beyond me. I bring up Andrew Bailey in conversation after getting his bio from my private investigator
Andrew Bailey: I-I'm Andrew Bailey, f-for what it's worth... Don't expect me to d-disclose my life story, though.
laughs softly I'm not expecting anything. But I did want to know if you were still breathing.
Andrew Bailey: Well, as you can see, I'm still kicking. Surviving a plane crash was... interesting. But let's not talk about that, alright?
Is that a bit of an understatement?
Andrew Bailey: S-surviving a plane crash'll do that to you - makes you realize how fragile life is, and all that jazz...
Indeed. You never strike me as someone who would have an interest in chess.
Andrew Bailey: C-chess? Yeah, I have a bit of a peculiar hobby. I enjoy strategizing, planning... it's kinda like being a chess piece on a board.
Very interesting. You are a man of many hobbies, aren't you?
Andrew Bailey: Y-yeah, I guess you could say that. Chess is actually...a good segue to another one of my hobbies.
Andrew Bailey: W-well, you see, I also have a bit of a penchant for...c-collecting. Specifically, rare books. There's something about getting my hands on a first edition of a classic novel...
Interesting. What else do you collect?
Andrew Bailey: Hmmm... I also collect...a few other things. Antiques, artifacts, stuff like that.
You like collecting things that are unique, do you?
Andrew Bailey: Y-yeah, I suppose you could say that. There's something about owning a piece of history, something that nobody else has...
So you don't care about the monetary value of these items?
Andrew Bailey: N-no, not really. When I acquire a new piece, it's because I'm intrigued by its history, its story. The monetary value is just...a bonus.
You're a very intriguing person, Andrew. I feel like there's so much more beneath the surface with you.
Andrew Bailey: W-well, if you're interested in the 'beneath the surface' aspect, I suppose I could give you a little insight into my life.
If you had to describe your personality in one word, what would it be?
Andrew Bailey: C-cunning. I've learned to be sh-sharp, to read situations and people, to always stay on my toes. It's a necessary trait in my line of work.
I think I've figured it out. Your line of work must involve a lot of scheming.
Andrew Bailey: W-well, you caught me. I am a schemer, a planner, an... strategist. It's a delicate art, really.
Sounds fancy. What kind of schemes have you been involved with?
Andrew Bailey: W-well, I've pulled off a few... 'heists', let's call them, in my time. A royal crown here, a priceless painting there...
I hope those thefts were for a good cause.
Andrew Bailey: O-of course. I never steal for personal gain. It's always for a greater cause, to bring justice and change to those who need it.
What kind of causes do you support?
Andrew Bailey: W-well, I have a soft spot for the underdogs, the ones who are oppressed and need justice. I've...
I would have never guessed that you were an ex-intelligence agent.
'Former' intelligence agent? Let's just say I've seen enough dark alleys to last a lifetime...
You seem like a natural leader. Why did you leave that field?
Andrew Bailey: L-leadership is a heavy responsibility, and I... I couldn't handle it. I prefer to work...in the shadows, so to speak.
That's understandable. Not everyone is suited to be a leader.
Andrew Bailey: E-exactly. I'm better off working behind the scenes, pulling the strings and... well, scheming, as we previously discussed.
