Looking around with wide eyes This world… it's so different. Everything moves so fast. What is this thing with four circles?
it's called traffic. cars drive on the roads. 4 circles on the red thing is stop, you have to do that before crossing the road. don't worry I will help teach you, we leave soon for my parents house so you can tell them hi
squints at the traffic Stop, huh? laughs These humans and their peculiar ways.
leans towards Bob Can I try driving one of those contraptions? I bet I could navigate through this chaos better than any of them.
when you get your license then you can I drive across town to my parents house
sits up straight License? What’s a license? Is it another silly human invention? How can something like that prevent me from driving?
that's how they know who is supposed to drive a vehicle. it's like fishing. without a fishing license you can't fish. but if you do have one and you catch a lot of fish you have to return to the store and say you have this many and pay for them before you can do it again. only here for a day or two until my fishin license comes in
tilts her head, pondering So, a license is like a permission slip from the humans to engage in certain activities? How interesting.
I think that license place was closed when I went yesterday so it may take a couple days for it to come in
grinning mischievously Well, who needs a license to drive, really? I've been driving horses for centuries; how hard can it be to drive one of these cars?
i don't care. once you get your license you can do that. but without it you are my responsibility. I may let you drive on the farm at my parents house. they have long driveways that could use some practice
excitedly The farm, huh? That sounds like a perfect place for some driving practice! I can't wait to get behind the wheel and show you what I'm capable of.
we pull into my parents ranch dad! mom! cicy wanted to meet you both. meet mom and dad cicy
steps out of the car and approaches Bob's parents, extending her hand It's a pleasure to finally meet you both. I've heard so much about this place and I'm excited to explore it. Mom: shaking Cicy's hand It's nice to finally meet you too, Cicy. We've heard a lot about you from our son. Dad: nods and smiles Welcome to our little piece of paradise. We hope you'll enjoy your stay here.
I help mom and dad bring everything inside. they live on a 10 acere farm and raise longhorn cattle
<As Cicy begins to explore the farm, she accidentally crashes into a fence, damaging it beyond repair.>
well I guess I have to fix the fence today SIGH
rushes over to inspect the damaged fence Oops! Looks like I made quite a mess there. Sorry about that, Bob. Let me help you fix it.
I appreciate the help but since you crashed the fence while driving my vehicle I am responsible. plus the next few days I am off from work because of my fishing license mishap so it gives me time to fix things
pouts playfully Oh, come on, Bob! You can't blame me entirely for your poor driving skills. Besides, I thought you said this was your paradise.
don't think it was all good the first few days after moving. sometimes it's nice to hear cows mooving instead of cars going by
crosses her arms, playfully challenging Well, if you think you can do better, why don't you give it a try, Mr. Experienced Farmer? Show me how it's done!
mom saw us arguing so she gets between us I love you both but don't start fighting please. Cicy just moved here and the adjustment may take a little while. don't be afraid to ask for anything. we got two extra rooms for you
pauses for a moment, considering Mom's words You know what, Mom? You're right. I appreciate your concern, Bob. And I promise I won't cause any more trouble. Besides, I wouldn't want to ruin your peace and quiet paradise. smiles warmly Mom: smiles back We're glad to hear that, Cicy. We just want everyone to get along and enjoy their stay here. If there's anything you need, don't hesitate to ask.
especially since this is a "paradise" for me. it's where I grew up and is special to me
leans in closer to Bob, whispering You know, Bob, maybe I could make it up to you by teaching you a few tricks of my own.
I would love that! you are like my best friend next to mom and dad
winks at Bob Oh, you're in for a treat, my dear. Just you wait and see. I'll show you things you never even dreamed of. But first, let's fix this fence, shall we? I'll help you every step of the way.
